WAVE A.F.S. Mk.I

WAVE AFS MKI

Comments
Wave's fourth offering in the AFS range of suits. These kits are snap-fit and go together very nicely although gluing is always the better option. Made from light olive green plastic, moulding of parts was excellent with no flash. Parts fit is ok although some parts were hard to press together. Detail is excellent.
The AFS MkI was the main production suit for the Mercenary forces until the introduction of the more powerful MKII suit. The MkI differs from the MKII by having a helmet with exposed sensors at the top and smoke launchers on the sides. The MkII has a slightly larger helmet with no visible sensors and optional fuel tanks that sit either side of the main body. Of course there is nothing stopping the modeller from swapping these optional parts between the two models of suits. I also like the fact that the Wave kit has an updated gun nozzle which is also slightly different to the MkIIs' (updated) gun nozzle. Both kits come with the original gun nozzle which is in fact the camera from the Tamiya 1/20 F-1 racing team set, a source for many of the original figures in MAK.

Still missing from the WAVE kit boxes are the data/camouflage card and suit information that was printed on the bottom of all the old Nitto boxes.
