The CP Probe operates on the priciple of measuring the potential difference between a structure (steel) and the Ag/AgCl reference electrode.
When the tip of the probe is brought in contact with the steel the negative potential will be read on an external voltmeter.
At potentials less negative than -0.80V (Ag/AgCl electrode), steel is unprotected and sacrificial anodes must be checked out.
